Road-Kills...

Where I come from is actually part of someone’s day in a sense to see a dead animal on the road and people mainly go about there day like they didn’t see anything. I haven’t actually witness a road-kill myself but I have seen many afterwards. I’ve seen poor animals already dead after been run over by cars. I’ve seen them already discomposed or very recent after their death.  I don’t drive yet but at least my family, boyfriend and friends (most of them) every time we see this we try and do something about it even if not much can be done.

Mostly on a highway it is very hard to stop or to avoid something, but we try as much as we can to not keep running over animals bodies. If we see this in a road where it is easier to do something about the poor animal just laying there lifeless, we do something about it and we’ve actually done it a few times especially my boyfriend and I. We hate seeing lonely dogs and cats running around the streets with nowhere to go. We’ve been ones to stop in the middle off the road, pull up somewhere where we don’t obstruct cars passing by and we’ve taken animals’ dead bodies off the road so people don’t keep running them over. We’ve also rescued many stray dogs and kitties, taken them off the streets and put them into shelters. I, myself actually have a rescued cat and my boyfriend has many and also a rescued dog but we take most of the ones we rescue to shelters because we can’t keep them all even if we wanted to.

Even if sometimes the effort is worthless at least we tried to do something about it. We’ve done this many times and many times people passing by yell at us things that are very cruel showing how little they care maybe because they don’t like animals or just because the animals are not theirs. Still many of the animals I try and help every time I can are not mine, still I care. What if it was my dog or cat? I’m not perfect or anything but I try to do my best at what I can and this includes helping others especially little defenseless creatures.

  1. I congratulate your boyfriend and you. Do not worry about the persons that yell at you because they are ignorants and do not have respect for nature and either each other. I witnessed once a road kill with my grandfather and it is not good to see. Keep up a good work. Today, we need people like yourself to help the environment, feel proud. thegogreenman
