My relationship with...

Ever since I was a little girl, my family and I would take road trips to the mountains, the beach and different sites in our country and very early on, everybody tells me nowadays, I was interested in animals. I’ve been seeing lately in the news a lot of reports about animal abuse and people just harming animals because they are, I don’t know, “bored” I guess. This breaks my heart. I’m no angel, I make mistakes, and I have a lot of things to deal with right now in my life but It would never cross my mind to harm any animal off mine, someone else’s, or even the one that don’t have a family.

Lucas is one of my 4 cats.
I could never have pets until I was 16. My first pet was a female kitty which we name Sille. I love cats. She got pregnant a few times and I ended up keeping two of her babies. But before those two babies where born came their father who was actually a rescue. I rescued my male cat, Andree, from the streets. He was skinny, dirty and very hungry. At first, in my house, I wasn’t allowed to keep him because he was from the streets but everybody just fell in love with his cuteness and sweetness. I ended up taking him to the vet and he ended up staying. He is now the king of the house practically.

This is Troy
In January of this year my boyfriend, who had 2 dogs and like a million cats and chickens in his house already, got a new poppy named Troy. Troy has totally changed my view on dogs, not that I had a bad one of them. With me spending time with Troy so much, taking care of him and everything that comes with having him but especially just seeing how excited he gets when he sees me, makes everything I do for him worth it. My boyfriend lost his poppy because now Troy is mine, just saying. I love all my animals very much and I would spend on them everything needed and do everything I needed too for them to be ok. They are my family.

My relationship with nature in general, including its creatures I would say is actually a very good one. I don’t only like cats and dogs, if it where up to me I would have a zoo in my house. I love giraffes, cows, horses, elephants, penguins, turtles, and many more. I hate seeing them get harmed for whatever reason. They shouldn’t be harmed for anything; there is no excuse for harming innocent animals. I also love everything that comes with nature. The rain, the trees, the beach, the mountains, just the fresh air I can breathe. I love the city but I’m a country girl at heart just like the character Sylvia from the short story “The White Heron” by Sarah Orne Jewett. Sylvia’s relationship with nature was one of loyalty, trust. She found a friend in nature and the tranquility in it she didn’t find in the city and that is very much how I feel when it comes to nature and animals.

In conclusion, we all have different views on life and things. I may love animals and nature but someone may not like it as much as I do. But there is no reason for harming them and abusing our power as humans on them. We should respect all living creatures and things just like we are supposed to respect each other as human beings. We are alive but so are they. They have feelings just like we do and I personally think, in this world we are living now, they are capable of being more sentimental and lovable than humans are showing to be.

  1. I am glad that you are an animal lover because I am too... I could not agree with you more about abusing innocent animals. Many people do not respect it and now days I think that is really necessary because I too hear about it on the news. Keep up a good work.... thegogreenman
